I didn't know what I was missing

All it takes is one busted foot to make you appreciate all you used to have -- the ability to walk and run, do things around the house and not be in pain. I hobbled into the office yesterday on my crutches so I could attend a training class but I was a wreck by the time I got home. Trying to keep off my foot, use different muscles to walk with crutches, not being able to move around freely -- it made me appreciate the mobility I took for granted.

No more flip flops! If I hadn't had them on, I would have been able to react faster when I didn't see the elevated part of my friend's garage floor and misjudged where to put my feet.

And no, I hadn't had a drink (one of my brothers accused me of this). It was 10:00 in the morning so the strongest thing I'd had so far was coffee.

Aw, hon! I know you are frustro because you need lots of activity and distraction. Moi, I rather like a bombproof excuse to lie around doing absolutely nothing, as you well know! Wish we could swap personae temporarily. I'd LOVE an excuse not to exercise (or even walk from bedroom to kitchen).

I'm so sorry they didn't at least give you a "walking cast" or a boot. They are cumbersome, but do not require the use of crutches (and all the assorted pains those create). Did they give you a timeline of how long they think you'll need to be in the cast? Hang in there, it's a pain (in every sense), but this too shall pass!

Milk it for all it's worth, as we say here in the USA...

Getting around with a disability is a problem that until you have experienced it first had is very difficult to understand.

Sorry for the spam but please, if you can, sign this petition to help maintain disabled access to Reading town centre.

They have given Elizabeth a walking cast, but she's in too much pain to walk without crutches.

Any medicine stong enough to overcome the pain would leave her unable to walk at all..
