I want to tell you all about my trip to the US but I haven't been able to blog. We had so many crises during our trip, and my foot was bothering me. We flew back from the US, and I went straight to my doctor. He sent me to the hospital right away where I was x-rayed and prodded. They said I had a broken bone, and I spent all day in the hospital going from one department to the other to get it sorted out.
What a surreal day it was. I'd just come from the South and went straight into an NHS hospital. The irony that the cafeteria was offering "Southern Fried Chicken" as its menu choice for that day wasn't lost on me. (My daughter took this pic -- you can't really tell but I'm in a wheelchair and so tired from waiting to be seen by various departments. I ended the day in the Plaster Room, getting a cast made.)

the question is: did you try the Southern Fried Chicken at the end? ;-P
Get well soon, waiting to read all about your US trip!
Yikes! Elizabeth, I am so sorry to hear about this. Please keep us updated. How long will you be in the cast? Do you have to rest it all the time or can you get up and go? Thinking of you...
The broken foot is all my fault---well, our house's fault. There is a slight step-down in our garage, and Elizabeth didn't see it. Concrete floor---ouch. She graciously has not sued us!
Since the blogmistress is indisposed, I'll reply.
"The Missus" (as they say in Ingerland) has been off work since we got back and mostly in bed. We don't know how long she'll be like this or how long she'll have to wear the cast.
We didn't try the southern fried chicken. It couldn't have been anything like the real thing and would only have added insult to injury.
And Bren, we're briefing Uncle Pat. It's a good thing you have a Law Lord in your house!
