I was in the office yesterday when I got a text from him. He was coming to London unexpectedly with his wife, a Swiss diplomat, and two of her friends, and could we meet them for lunch?
When am I going to turn down a lunch date? (Never.) Here we are.

We were going for coffee after lunch and passed by a cart selling independent coffee. As we passed, a guy standing in line told us it was the best coffee in London and we'd be fools to go anywhere else.
He was so right. We all made friends right then and there, even though the coffee cart owner was embarrassed by all the attention. Our new friend, Scott Williams, told us where to find unusual shops in the neighborhood, and pointed us to an antiques arcade that was filled with shops with vintage dresses and other items.
Here is Scott and Peter Duggan, the coffee guy. And people say the English can be cold and aloof. It was warm and sunny today so maybe that improved their dispositions.

Sounds like you had a grand old time.
*sigh*
I will be released from the hell of revision before long, one way or the other.
Yes, so you won't have to turn down any free lunches!
I went along for starters. The food was great, but the service a little slow.
It sound like you are talking about Alfies antiques. I love that place!
I loved Alfies antiques too but couldn't afford to buy a thing! But loved looking.
Thanks for taking the time out to have lunch and coffee with us (the best in London).
Looking forward to seeing you in Paris.
Best,
Roger and Christine
