An expat's 4th of July

I'm working today even though I should be at a BBQ and watching fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July. It's OK though because I went to a pre-Independence Day party yesterday that was full of British people dressed up like Americans shouting things like "Yahoo!" because they think that's what we do.

It looks like the party I attended was so cool that even Obama dropped in for some of the Rotel dip I brought:

Here we are -- only Americans were allowed in front of the partition.

Today I'm at the office but during my spinning class at lunchtime, only American songs were played because it is the 4th of July. That led to complaints from a Canadian in the class.

After work, I'm going to Windsor racecourse with my American friend Elise and her pals for American Independence Night. I have got the help of a couple of limeys :) though in picking out which horses are sure to win. Or do you think they've told me the ones sure to lose in retaliation?
