Top 10 Items You're Too Old to Wear | Lifescript.com

Check this out. Do you make any of these mistakes now that you are in your geriatric years? (Over 40 :))

I can't make them now because I've put on too much weight to wear anything trendy.

That article is ridiculous! I'm sure Simon Doonan would agree.

I loved this article! I read it with some trepidation, although in general I've usually dressed fairly conservatively (for which you have often scolded me, Eliz, and I HAVE loosened up a bit---even wore lots of sleeveless tops this summer!) I have to say, I agreed with it 100%, though.

"Mutton dressed as lamb" is NOT a phrase I want to hear muttered as I pass people on the street!:):)

As "Truman Capote," my recently departed friend (not his real name) used to say,"Better to stop wearin' it five years too early than wear it one day too long."

(You really had to hear him say it in his inimitable Southern drawl to get the full effect!)

I can honestly say that I don't wear any of those things.

Except perhaps the bit about showing too much cleavage...

Ha Ha -- I've got the same problem, Mel. I would say, though, that many of the clothes on the list are just too ugly to wear!

Simon Doonan is hilariously funny. He's the head window dresser for Barney's New York, and wrote a slew of books including: wrote "Confessions of a Window Dresser," and "Beautiful People." He also writes a column for the New York Observer.
