I went to a neighbor's party last night and drank way too much mulled wine. I later found out it had brandy in it. I'm supposed to help my son with his Dickens course work but I told him he needs to wait until Mommy's hangover has improved.
Before the party, we played Monopoly but Dizzy the cat kept interfering:

In the end, my daughter got all my property and bankrupted me and won the game.
I have to make soup for a New Year's Party tonight. I found a great recipe for a Brie Champagne Oyster soup that I will make. If it's as good as it sounds, I'll put the recipe up later.
I was going to take Mr. Christmas Tree down today but it's been so dark and rainy in England that he's the only brightness in the house. I'll put him on today and take him down tomorrow.
I'll miss him when he goes.

shock! it's bad luck to take chrissy decorations down before 12th night! I mean, if you don't let them linger properly you'll be putting up valentines decorations in a week's time... and then halloween in march...
Well Elizabeth, its only 3 short hours to 2010 here in Washington. Here's hoping that you had a happy New Year's Celebration last night.
Warmest regards,
Brody Levesque
Thanks Brody and OJ. What did you all do for New Year's Eve? Bet it was something interesting.
OJ, I think I'll leave Mr Tree up for another day because I love his light but I have to get everything put away before I go back to work on the 4th or I'll never have the time afterwards.
Funny you have Mr. Tree...we have always caled ours Matilda, not sure why. For New Year's Eve we had our traditional picnic in the living room. Went to the specialty grocery that has high end stuff and splurged on pates and interesting cheeses, Scottish lox, marinated fresh anchovies, procuito, olives and various pickles. Served on trays with breads and crackers. Asti and eggnog. Quite a feast!
Yes, Derry, ours was Mr Christmas Tree -- JIM Christmas Tree. Matilda is cute -- maybe they could get married? OH, wait, Mel just took a saw to Mr Tree.
Your NY's picnic sounded fab. You have the nicest traditions.
Oh I have to tell you that a friend wore one of your necklaces to the NY's party I went to and everyone oohed and aahed and wanted to know about the glass. My friend needs a bracelet to go with it. I found some earrings you made that I'll give her to go with the necklace, even though the glass color isn't the same. She said that necklace is her PRIZED possession as it spices up her all-black outfits with color.
