My son has big exams tomorrow so tonight he turned to my husband (Mr. Science) and said he needed help with Shakespeare's Richard III. I couldn't believe it.
"Who has the English degree in this family?" I said to Mikey. "Who knows Richard III inside and out?"
Mikey looked at my husband, assuming it was him since he is the acknowledged Brains of the Family.
"No, no, no," I said, offended. I can never help Mikey with physics, chemistry, German or French but English Literature -- now that was my chance to impress him. (I know many of my friends from Vicksburg, Mississippi, who went to Warren Central High School got a fine education there, but I wasn't among them.)
Harp not on that string, madam; that is past.

Is that "acknowledged" or...*soi-disant*?:):) Well, as (I hope?) one of the friends to whom you refer re: WCHS education, let me just say that if you'd spent more time studying and less time chasing boys you'd probably have nine doctoral degrees in things like Ancient Sanskrit by now:):)...nothing wrong with yo haid, chile...
Speaking of WCHS---my niece had her "Total Sound" concert last weekend! WOW did that bring back memories of you up on stage, singing and dancing the "Bus Stop." Can you believe it's still an active group, with the same name from 30 years ago?
I can't believe there's still a Total Sound 20 (OK, 30) years later. Do they still dress in all black and dance onstage? Do you ever see Mrs. Sizemore when you're in V'burg?
Let loose your inner Know-It-All. She's in there. She's just been conditioned to bat her eyelashes when she really knows the answer. Mel makes mistakes, too; he just doesn't say he's dumb when he does it.
Any relation to Miss Jean Brodie? Eliz, no, I never see our erstwhile teacher, so have no idea where she is. I don't think Total Sound still does the black-outfit thang, but I'll ask my niece. My cousin's gorgeous son is also in it---I'll try and get a pic of the group so you can compare them to your fellow members from---what---40? 50? years ago:):) Do you have any pics of the group back then?
Bee-aa--ach! saying I was in Total Sound 40 or 50 years ago. Hmph.
I think I destroyed my Total Sound pics -- wait, there is one in the WCHS annual I have. Must go scan sometime. I am scowling at the camera while Larry Cave clowns because I was so fed up with high school at that time that I wanted to just get out.
Thanks Jane Brodie. Mel might not say he's dumb when he makes mistakes but I jump right in there and tell him. :)
That's how I know I don't make many mistakes - every time I do, it's "You were WRONG about that - you think you're so clever, but you were WRONG!!!!"
You're WRONG! I don't say that. You are so WRONG.
